Students new to Tarot

Tarot is a tool to give us wisdom and guidance in our daily life and may complement our spiritual journey. It can also be used in a divinatory manner and as a stimulant to meditative contemplation. Tarot is truly magic!

The Tarot deck contains 78 cards:

  • 22 Major Arcana or trump cards, numbered in Roman numerals from 0 to 21 (0 – XXI),
  • and 56 Minor Arcana cards which are divided into 4 Suits: Wands, Cups Swords and Pentacles.

The deck Jeni teaches with is the Rider-Waite/Waite deck  which comes in a variety of styles.

A comprehensive Introductory course  will take 9-12 sessions.

  • It begins studying the Major Arcana then proceeds through each suit of the Minor Arcana.
  • As the student becomes more familiar with each card’s traditional meanings, Jeni guides them on card interpretation in specific situations and on how to read several commonly used spreads.
  • Detailed notes are supplied with each class. And Jeni also provides a comprehensive book list, though buying additional books is certainly not essential.

For students with some Tarot experience

Jeni and each student work together at the 1st meeting to plan a course that will cover the aspects of Tarot upon which the student wishes to concentrate, in the number of sessions the student wishes to spend.

The cost of each 90-minute session

$100 each or $275 per group of 3 sessions.

Location

Jeni’s classes are held at her home in Clifton Hill.

Jeni’s philosophy on learning Tarot.

“Learning to read Tarot should be a fun, enjoyable, relaxing experience.  That is my approach, with a large hands-on component.

How long it will take each student to ‘learn’ the cards depends on how much time they give to its    study and just how advanced each student wishes to become.

To be a good interpreter of Tarot cards also, of course, requires development of  our natural intuition; for ultimately, that is key to inciteful, accurate Tarot reading. I believe that understanding the ‘meanings’ of each card, based on the pictorial symbols, their dominant colours, numerological association, etc provides triggers for our intuition to develop and interpret Tarot cards and spreads effectively.”

Jeni’s teaching experience
